    Optimal B3 production

Lichfield Printers has installed a five colour Hans Gronhi GH525 press from Printers Superstore. According to MD Glenn Andrews, the company bought the machine in order to optimize its B3 litho capability.

“B3 offset has almost become a niche market. We have a high number of design agency and print management clients, many of them requiring very high quality work with end users in the financial sector,” he explains. “They know the difference litho quality makes, and they simply won’t be fobbed off with digital. We have been asked to produce some extremely low runs with our litho press – our record being only 15 copies!”

  • Exceptional

“During recent years we’ve seen many local printers disappear – and those that failed were the ones that didn’t modernise,” continues Mr Andrews. “We realised we needed to replace our ageing Komori press, but as a small company with a limited budget we needed a modern machine at an affordable price. The deal from Printers Superstore was exceptional, and when we consulted other Gronhi users for their experience we were convinced.”

    Automated and flexible

Mr Andrews is enthusiastic about the benefits brought by the Gronhi machine. “This is our first press with a fifth colour unit. It’s also our first with CIP networking for automated setups, which has been a revelation,” he says. “Our makereadies have been cut in half. It also has more advanced plate changing and cylinder cocking, and is more flexible in terms of stock capability.”

    Logical

The GH525 purchase is Lichfield Printers’ first experience with Printers Superstore, and Mr Andrews says the relationship has started well. “Their customer service has been excellent, they are very responsive and when we have needed help, it’s been provided quickly.”

The company has a comprehensive pre press and finishing capability. With a small but dedicated 5-strong team, Lichfield Printers has managed to achieve steady growth in recent years and now has a £300K turnover.
